Gardens to Visit

Master gardens that inspire us with a selection of our photos from visits over the years.

GREAT DIXTER, the legendary home and garden of the late Christopher Lloyd remains a constant source of inspiration and learning thanks to the skills and passion of Head Gardener Fergus Garrett and his team. If you haven't already, it's well worth a visit!

HIDCOTE MANOR in Gloucestershire is a National Trust Arts and Crafts garden famous for its linked rooms of hedges, trees, water features and perennial borders.

HOUGHTON HALL in Norfolk is a riot of colour in the summer with a walled garden full of roses and vast Buxus domes punctuating the lawns.

SCAMPSTON in Yorkshire boasts a wonderful combination of traditional planting and a contemporary Piet Oudolf planting designed, set within 18th Century walls amidst a Capability Brown landscape.

WEST DEAN is predominantly the creation of Jim Buckland and Sarah Wain who have recently retired after 25 years at the helm. It is famed for its walled garden bursting with perfectly trained fruit and colourful vegetables, the beautifully restored Victorian greenhouses packed with begonias, pelargoniums and chillies and the magnificent 100m Harold Peto pergola.

WESTONBIRT ARBORETUM planted by George Holford is one of the most beautiful and important plant collections in the world. With 15,000 specimens, and 2,500 species of trees from all over the globe and extraordinary spring blossom and autumn colour.
